“The power of manifestation is real.”I am Shayla, but I go by Starr because it fits me and my personality. I am an extremely goofy person who loves to have fun and knows how to be serious when business is involved. I was born in Houston, TX. I have been in Texas all my life, but I want to travel more as I’ve gotten older. Growing up, I was always into taking pictures, and I also grew up watching America’s Next Top Model, which left a huge impact. I am 5’0. I am not tall enough to walk the runway, even though I would love to. I am very fierce, and I would consider myself a leader rather than a follower. I would also consider modeling a way of life for me. It is one of the few things I enjoy other than dance and makeup. I hope my modeling career will take off. – Starr Nicole
How did you get started modeling?
I started modeling after receiving an email from Barbizon Modeling in 2016. After I graduated, I was with an agency, but my mom made me leave at the time. I had to do what she said because I was still underage. A little time went by, and photographers noticed my pics on Instagram, which helped a lot. I immediately started building my portfolio and working harder to put in different ideas for my photoshoots.
How would you describe a model life?
A model’s life is the definition of “beauty is pain.” Sometimes you have to go out of your way to get the desired look & type of fashion you want. You might have to walk in heels even though your feet are killing you, you might have to wear a certain type of contact that irritates your eyes or even wear itchy clothing, but you will always love the results and think that it is worth it.
What is your favorite thing to do when not working?
My favorite thing to do when I am not working is taking self-care days or hanging out with friends. It’s important that you just take a second to chill and recuperate rather than run yourself to death. Always keep your health up to par, and that applies to your mental health as well.
