“The power of manifest is real.”

My name is Shayla, but I go by Starr because I feel like it fits me and my personality more I am an extremely goofy person who loves to have fun but also knows how to be serious when business is involved. I was born in Houston, TX. I’ve been in Texas all my life, but as I’ve gotten older I definitely want to travel more. Growing up I was always into taking pictures and like most say I also grew up watching America’s Next Top Model, which definitely left a huge impact and has helped me with my modeling. I am 5’0, I’m not tall enough to walk the runway even though I would love to. I am very fierce and I would consider myself a leader rather than a follower. I would also consider modeling a way of life for me. It is one of the few things I enjoy other than dance and makeup. I hope eventually my modeling career will take off.

How did you get started modeling?

I got started in modeling after receiving a email from Barbizon Modeling in 2016. After I graduated I was with an agency, but my mom made me leave at the time. I had to do what she said because I was still under age. A little time went by and photographers started to notice my pics on Instagram, which helped a lot. I immediately started building my portfolio and working harder to put in different ideas for my photoshoots.

How would you describe a model life?

A model’s life is the definition of “beauty is pain”. Sometimes you have to go out of your way to get the desired look & type of fashion you want. You might have to walk in heels even though your feel are killing you, you might have to wear a certain type of contact that irritates your eyes, or even wear itchy clothing, but you’re always going to love the end results and think that it’s definitely worth it.

What is your favorite thing to do when not working?

My favorite thing to do when I’m not working is to definitely take self care days or hang out with friends. It’s important that you just take a second to chill and recuperate rather than to run yourself to death. Always keep your health up to par and that applies for your mental health as well.
