Nate Gott Finds Intimacy Between Stops on “Kiss + Ride”

Nate Gott

Nate Gott’s version of R&B is built from an unusual balance: intricate acoustic guitar work on one side, trap-informed rhythm on the other. The Tennessee singer-songwriter has developed that contrast through both his own artistry and songwriting work that has reached projects connected to JUS2, 4th Ave, and producer Charlie Peacock.

“Kiss + Ride” brings those instincts into a more intimate setting. Written with Kevin Michael and Chad “CJ” Holland, the song explores the secrecy and attraction of a relationship that largely exists behind closed doors. A recurring guitar figure gives the record a classic R&B backbone, while active bass movement keeps the production from settling too comfortably into nostalgia.

Gott’s vocal range becomes another part of the arrangement, moving from unusually low notes into chest voice and falsetto rather than staying in one register. That range mirrors the push and pull of the song itself. “Kiss + Ride” feels rooted in classic R&B, but Gott’s musicianship and modern production instincts keep it from simply recreating the past.
