Budding Brooklyn, NY singer Alex Mali steals the show again with this emotional track titled “5 Star”. In this new song, Alex Mali sings about heartbreak, broken promises, and love lost. This track comes after the successful release of the video for her track “Fighting Words”, which premiered last month.
The Caribbean singer first performed this track during the Adult Swim Festival, where she shared the stage with the likes of Rico Nasty, Kaytranada, and J.I.D. During the show, she also performed other songs from her second Phenom EP, which is a rare blend of trap, R&B, dancehall, and Pop music.
Alex stormed the music scene in 2019 when she released her first EP titled “Sweet & Sour”. This project was widely accepted, and received critical acclaims from industry heavyweights like Refinery 29, FADER, Teen Vogue, Pitchfork, Complex, Wonderland ,and Clash. She was also featured in the Hypebae Best New Music of September 2020.
Alex was born in Brooklyn to a Jamaican mother and Trinidadian father. Her style of music effortlessly navigates through different genres, making her standout from the crowd. This undeniable talent has earned her top spots on popular playlists like Alternative R&B, Fresh Finds, New Music Friday, etc.
