“She been waiting all year, I know that she ready, she wearing red yeah, she know I like it…”
– quote from “Sit On My Lap”
The song “Sit On My Lap” is one of the acts in a thrilling Christmas revue put together by Trans Trenderz: “It’s A Very Trans Christmas, indeed!” Blxck Cxsper, in a flexuous and haunting spin of lyrics, implores listeners who haven’t caught on the holiday spirit to reach into the box and feel the Christmas buzz.
You can kick back with your warm cocoa or spiked eggnog in front of the tree decorated in red, green, and gold surrounded by stockings to enjoy the holidays with loved ones (or even alone) with this seasonal EP that features 5 totally new holiday-themed tracks from a group of absolutely fabulous artists.
Up first is “Holiday Baby” by NovaGawd and She’is Kutoa, a lively R&B celebratory salvo which was spotlighted in PASTE’s recent holiday music download. Following it is “All On Me”, a sizzling new single with quick breaks and food meets sex innuendo by Lady Londyn. On its heels is “New Holiday” by Evolation and Jae; an ethereal, more relaxed song with nostalgic lyrics. The fourth song on the EP is “Lonely” by WETLAVABOII with a passionate and upbeat tempo. Blxck Cxsper’s “Sit On My Lap” is the final song in this amazing Christmas revue.
New York, NY Indie Label, Trans Trenderz, was founded in 2016 when Blxck Cxsper carefully organized the production of a mixtape which featured 14 Trans artists. The release party was a very exciting one for them. In their own words, “You could feel how excited people were to finally see Trans folks on stage. It didn’t feel like a show, more like a family reunion.” There was a camaraderie between the artists and the audience and everyone lovingly contributed in one way or the other to its success. With the desire to continually provide a platform for themselves and similar artists, Trans Trenderz officially developed into a record label signing Transgender and gender non-conforming acts.
Trans Trenderz is a movement set at uplifting Black Trans voices through creative collaboration and support of one another. They are dedicated to promoting the musical output of Black Trans artists.
