“The chance to keep me company is a luxury, the truth I still fail to see…”
– quote from “Can’t Sleep”
Mia Jae just recently released the second song from her deeply personal, and overly emotional EP titled “Can’t Sleep”. In the track, the Harlem-native (New York) reminisces about a few of the short-lived relationships she’s experienced in her past.
The video to “Can’t Sleep” opens with Mia trying to put pen to paper and write the iconic late-night hook-up track. Featuring products from Shine, Blue Sage Market, and Buddha Teas, Mia ultimately forgoes sleep for a bottle of Hennessy, thinking about the men who’ve failed her.
Mia got her start in musical theatre, landing roles in Off-Broadway productions such as Dorothy in “The Wiz”, The Witch from “Into The Woods”, and the iconic Joanne in the 20th Anniversary revival of “RENT”. Her best outlet of self-expression was songwriting, but she transitioned into the mainstream music world full time in 2018. She began performing at NYC staples such as SOB’s, Piano’s, and Arlene’s Grocery. Ironically on Valentine’s Day, Mia released a six-track EP featuring her debut single “Better Man” (2018), and later dropped her 2019 single “How It Feels”.
