“I don’t know who to trust, I would’ve taken one for you I put that on gang. At first it was two of us, thought you was my brother for life and now nothings the same…”
Brooklyn rapper and songwriter Illanoiz is one artist who has lived for music from a very young age and has still got as much passion and drive till date.
The “Down” artist who is known for his consistency, creative lyrics, bars and story type rhymes found his passion early and stuck to it. After writing a 16 bar verse at the age of 13, he became part of his Uncle Deebo’s music group “Pure Hustlers Indeed” and began taking every opportunity to write and make music. Even in-house suspension at school was turned into an avenue to make music as his teacher had a music studio.
After trying to juggle school and music for a while, in junior year, Illanoiz decided to drop out and focus on music alone. Street life and music became a thing for Illanoiz and although it started out badly, the street life contributed greatly to the person he has become as well as the music he makes.
“Trust” is one of those songs that you cannot help but feel and relate with; all of Illanoiz’s songs do that to you really and this is why he has been tearing the streets apart since day one.
The name “Trust” says much for the song which tells about betrayal, fake friends and not knowing who to trust even in your circle. “Trust” was produced by The Final 4 and directed by Mix Time Media.
Released on August 30th – a very personal day for Illanoiz, “Trust” is dedicated to his best friend he lost 6 years ago on that day due to gun violence.
“I’m dropping a single “Trust”, ironic because he’s one of the few people I trusted the most and he always told me not to put my trust in those who aren’t trustworthy. I just pray he continues to watch over me and be my spirit guide so that I can maneuver around these snakes in the grass and reach my goals,” Illanoiz says as he dedicates the song and sends love to a brother he lost.
If the thought behind the song doesn’t get you feeling and thinking, the lyrics definitely will.
We have all been there, some of us are still at this place trying to figure it all out and that is why “Trust” is much more than a jam with tight lyrics, rhymes and impeccable production, but a representation of how we all feel most of the time.
“Trust” is available for streaming on Youtube, Soundcloud, Spotify and other media platforms.
