Megan Thee Stallion’s Summer just got hotter as she slayed her new single “Hot Girl Summer’” that features none other than Queen Nicki Minaj, as well as Ty Dolla Sign in a track produced by Juicy J.
This collaboration was a pleasant one as just two months ago, the Houston star was trolled on twitter by a Nicki Minaj fan who got offended at her for not naming Nicki amongst her five favorite female rappers.
For fans of the two queens, as soon as Thee Stallion delayed the release of her single, which was supposed to drop on August 2, after chatting live on Instagram with Minaj, something was definitely brewing.
Now we know what it was, as the song is no doubt an A and has got us moving to not only a killer beat, but an amazing rap from the queens and then some sleek vocals from Ty Dolla Sign. As Megan promised, it was totally worth the wait.
This collaboration is many things, but it goes to show who Megan really is and how she steers clear of controversies and beefs in the industry. She has previously been quoted saying that fans expect her to take a side, especially in the beef between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, but she loves both of them and doesn’t think they should be constantly compared as they are two different rappers.
For Nicki Minaj, some believe she may have gotten herself a new female best friend in what seems like the first time since she clicked with any female rapper in the industry. Perhaps this friendship would last longer than the brief one she had with Beyoncé a while back.
Minaj might indeed be on the verge to a blooming friendship as she took to twitter on August 5th and spoke about her verse in Megan’s “Hot Girl Summer” as well as her love for Megan. “I was right on the verge of losing my voice and it was mad late so I already sounded like a man, but once I heard the song I fell in love. Wrote it before I went to sleep. None of it was planned. I had no idea Meg was live or that she would want to go live together.”
Megan Thee Stallion defines the term “Hot Girl Summer”, which she coined and has since gone viral as “…..women and men being unapologetically them, just having a good ass time, hyping up their friends, doing you”.
Just last month she filed trademark documents for the phrase.
