Nas & Will Smith’s Investment in Mobile App
Nas and Will Smith teamed up to invest in an app targeted to provide financial education for teenagers.
The app is being developed by tech startup, Step and it is rumored that it has Apple-Pay and other online money-moving apps integrated into it.
The app aims to teaching teenagers the need to discipline themselves financially, guide them and also teach them to cultivate the habit of saving. The app also makes provisions for parents to step in when necessary, like in the monitoring of the accounts, setting limits and guidelines.
Step co-founder and CEO, CJ MacDonald said, “Schools don’t teach kids about money. We want to be their first bank accounts without spending cards, but we also want to teach them financial literacy and responsibility. Banks don’t tailor to this and we want to be the solution, teaching the next generation of adults to be more responsible with money in the cashless era”.
The app, Per Techcrunch allows teenagers the access to bank accounts without minimum balance or fees. Stripe is the leading investor, and is backed by Will Smith’s dreamer fund and Nas. Together, they’ve been able to raise almost $30 million.
