Chicago rapper AAB Hellabandz was shot dead outside the Cameo nightclub in Miami at about 2:30 am on Saturday, May 11, 2019.
The 24 year old rapper was shot alongside another man, who luckily survived the shooting and is currently in recovery at Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center. Hellabandz was pronounced dead at the scene.
Earlier this year, Hellabandz gained popularity because of his brief (2 weeks) relationship with reality star Blac Chyna, mother to Rob Kardashian’s child, which was rumored to have been done in a bid to garner attention for his rap career.
Miami Beach Police reports say an officer heard gunshots and sighted two vehicles suspected to be conveying men fleeing from the scene with someone inside the second vehicle.
Miami Beach Police Department spokesman said cops went in pursuit of a third vehicle located nearby, also suspected to be involved in the shooting, but the chase ended when two police vehicles crashed near 91st Street and Harding Avenue, leaving some officers with minor injuries while the suspects escaped.
No arrest has been made; detectives are still searching for the gunman and suspects.
A fellow Chicago rapper Lil Durk, was among the first set of persons to mourn Hellabandz on his social media page; “Rip to my dawg, love you 4ever Hellabandz,” he tweeted. Fans of the late rapper have also taken to his Instagram page to express their condolence and mourn the rapper.
Hellabandz music broke through in 2016 when he released “Hatn” and “Hellabandz” alongside “Freeband Slime”. Before his death, the rapper released songs “Can’t Get Enough” as well as “Facts” in 2017 and “Count Wrong” in 2018.
